Automakers Revolutionize Night-Vision Technology with Thermal Imaging and More
It’s not exactly breaking news that even the top-of-the-line headlights don’t light up the road well enough so that every pedestrian, pet and animal is well within view. In fact, even with innovations in HID and LED headlamps and tail lights, over 4,000 pedestrians are killed every year from car accidents with over 70% of these incidents occurring at night. Automakers are working to combat limited night vision with driver assistance technologies like pedestrian-illuminating spotlights and an obstacle alerts via the head-up display.
